On 21 May – 1 June 2022 IOM Expert on Emergency health Mrs. Salma TAHER visited IOM offices in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to monitor running regional project “Enhancing health and border management In Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to respond to COVID-19 and other communicable diseases” and provide technical support to country teams in conducting project’s activities.
Thus, in Tajikistan Mrs Salma TAHER conducted meetings with the Deputy of the Ministry of health and social protection of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Amirzoda Abdukholik Amir, Head of the Department on Sanitary-Epidemiologic control, and Emergency health Mr. Navruz Jafarov and Deputy of the State Sanitary and Epidemiology Control Dr. Saidjon Davlatzoda, as well as National Officer on Emergency health at WHO Tajikistan. In addition, Salma facilitate meeting with the multisectoral team on border health in Dushanbe on 24 May 2022. Participants raised awareness on developing Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) and provided feedback to draft SOP suggested by the IOM National Consultant. In the second half of the meeting Salma conducted tabletop simulation exercise that was discussed in the small groups.
On 25 May -1 June 2022 Mrs. Salma TAHER visited Tashkent (Republic of Uzbekistan) where jointly with the Regional Expert on Migration Health at RO Vienna Mr. Jaime CALDERON contributed to the conducting regional event “Extending cross border cooperation and communication to strengthen public health” on 27-28 May 2022. After the regional event n 29 – 31 May 2022 Mrs. TAHER conducted a number of the meetings with the project’s team in Uzbekistan, authorities and WHO specialist.
